Our baby chicks arrived today! We ordered 25 chicksfrom Welp Hatchery. They're Buff Orpingtons. The kids have been looking forward to this for far too long(by their recollection). We got a call from the post office saying they were in, and my older children were so miffed that they wouldn't be able to see them until after school. Which is probably for the best, I don't think the chicks could handle all 6 at once. Only a few more months until we can butcher them and have fresh meat! Although we are keeping a few for eggs. I think that next time we order a couple on fancier breeds for fun. I'd like to get the kids invoved in 4-H , and this is a good way to start. Talen didn't know what to think at first, I tried to get him to hold one for a picture, but he kept backing away. Tiffy wouldn't hold one in her hand either, she says their feet poke her hands too much. I'm going to have to set some limits or the chicks will get TOO much loving.

How fun. My kindergarten and preschool students would have loved to have seen those. They got to see some baby pheasants last week but did not get to hold them.
Next thing you know woman you are going to be having your own mini farm going on our there! Good for you! Those chicks are darn cute, so are those little kids holding them!
